Social Networks
I am just beginning to realize the value of social networks.
Currently I use Facebook to stay in touch with friends and LinkedIn as a professional network.
I have used other web 2.0 tools such as wikis to work with campus groups and our department on specific projects in the past. I have created forums within wikis for team correspondence.
Now I can see now that there is much more value in creating more specific networks to reach out to a larger pool of folks with similar interests. A group of innovators who experiment with educational technology could share details about success with certain applications.

Websites vs Blogs
A website usually has one web master who edits the site and has control over the content. A website usually sends information one way - to the viewer - and interaction is limited. Website designers spend time developing a website look and content and then plan a launch. There is often some time span before they receive an update.
A blog is designed to be a social tool that is updated frequently - daily or multiple times a day. Blogs may have multiple authors and can be set up for viewers to make comments related to the content. Blogs are easy to develop and launch. Blogs begin simple and collect content over time.

Fun Filled Fall
My first entry on my new blog and I am thinking that it would be appropriate to make a comment about my fall semester. Have had a busy four weeks at work. We are working with a near record amount of courses. We launched some new technology tools and I am busy facilitating videoconferencing. I am also enrolled in CEP 810. So far I am impressed with the organization of this fully online class. I have had the good fortune to have had access to many online courses. Many different structures out there. So far this class is easy to follow, contains a smooth, step by step format, and includes all additional resources on line by way of links.
